ABOUT JOHN
Hi, I'm John - a Registered Clinical Counsellor that has been working in the community mental health field for over 7 years. I have worked in a variety of roles, including as a behaviour interventionist, shelter support worker, and clinical counsellor. I have experience with a wide variety of clients and concerns with a focus on matters of anxiety, depression, and substance use.
In addition to my current role as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I work as a Mental Health and Substance Use Clinician at Fraser Health. In this position, I help clients explore the intersection between their mental health and substance use, as well as how they interact with each other. Beyond the cultivation of awareness, I aim to empower clients with the tools and knowledge to create the lives they want to live. Towards this, I work from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy framework with a significant emphasis on Mindfulness.
The goal of therapy is for the client to become their own therapist, to learn to recognize hurdles, to increase trust in their ability to manage challenges, and cultivate a compassionate view of themselves along the way. I hold firmly to the idea that you are the expert on you, my role in our journey together is to help guide you along that path. My aim is to create a supportive and empathetic therapeutic relationship that encourages the growth and well-being of each client.
